The fundamental principles of the set

Why Socratic questions?

According to the logotherapy approach,       Socratic questions are formulated to

“give birth” and facilitate the emergence

of ‘meaning clues’ and insights,

the discovery of inner forces, values, goals, unique tasks, and profound examination of the ‘hourglass’ of the past, present

and future.

Why meaning?

Numerous studies highlight the pivotal role of meaning in life as a resource for optimal functioning, mental and physical well-being, and as a factor for resilience and coping when confronting crises and adversity. The pathways to discovering meaning encompass the expression of experiential, creative and attitudinal values.

Each card in the set references these pathways, aligning them with Socratic questions for self-discovery, alongside the visual representation of nature.

Why roads and pathways?

Logotherapy aims to direct an individual’s  focus towards the inherent freedom within them - a freedom enabling them to respond to any situation, regardless of circumstances. The capacity to choose is what enables a person to actualize values even amidst the most challenging conditions. Even when one’s sole option is to choose their attitude towards a situation, value realization persists. This emphasis on openness underscores the shift from external conditions of existence to an individual’s inner essence. In line with this  philosophy, this set is constructed around pathways and choices, guiding individuals towards meaningful paths and pursuits.

Why nature?

Studies suggest the restorative and healing effects of exposure to images of nature and the connection to the natural rhythm of the seasons, as well as nature’s contribution to the sense of meaning and purpose in life, stress reduction, and the enhancement of our mental and physical health.
